Challenge

Pulsefit sold well online, but its community lived in scattered social groups that had little to do with the products people bought. Customers had no reason to open anything of the brand between purchases.

Solution

We designed a single app around a weekly rhythm: pick a plan, train, share progress, and shop the gear that supports it. The shop and community share one profile and one feed.

Outcome

Weekly active community members grew threefold within the first six months, and average session length more than doubled.

01 — Challenge

The challenge

Pulsefit sold well online, but its community lived in scattered social groups that had little to do with the products people bought. Customers had no reason to open anything of the brand between purchases.

The existing mobile site was slow and offered no way to follow a training plan, track progress or connect with other members.

The team wanted one app that combined the shop with training, without the cost of maintaining separate iOS and Android codebases.

02 — Solution

Our approach The solution

We designed a single app around a weekly rhythm: pick a plan, train, share progress, and shop the gear that supports it. The shop and community share one profile and one feed.

The app was built in React Native with Expo, backed by Supabase for authentication, real-time feed updates and storage. Native modules handle workout tracking and wearable sync.

  • Training plans with progress tracking and streaks
  • A shared community feed with challenges
  • In-app shop with saved sizes and one-tap reorder
  • Push notifications tied to plan schedules

Releases went out through automated builds and staged rollouts, with crash and performance monitoring from day one.

Results

  • Community activity

Growth in weekly active community members

  • Store rating

Average rating across iOS and Android

03 — Outcome

The outcome

Weekly active community members grew threefold within the first six months, and average session length more than doubled.

The app holds a 4.8 average rating across both stores, with reviewers calling out speed and the training plans.

Repeat purchase rates rose as customers returned to the app for plans and bought gear in the same visit.

Our community finally has a home. The app is fast, our members love the plans, and we shipped to both stores on the same day.
